New Neighbors Coalition’s Community Education program fosters cultural understanding and social integration through workshops, events, and collaborative learning opportunities.

By equipping immigrants with essential skills and knowledge, the program promotes self-sufficiency, empowering new neighbors to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the community.

Workforce Microgrant

Workforce Development Opportunities – connecting new arrivals with potential employers, workforce-related skills development, initial transportation support, etc.

  • Hosted a resume workshop
  • Developed a workforce microgrant program where we have helped applicants purchase tools, paid for healthcare related fingerprinting requirements, paid for online GED courses, etc.
  • Hosted a hiring information session connecting new arrivals with a local nursing facility.
  • Provided initial transportation support for recently employed individuals.

English Language Support

  • Advocating on behalf of new arrivals with ESOL class providers
  • Contributing classroom space for ESOL providers at no cost
  • Assisting ESOL program partners with advertising and communicating with students
  • Hosting informal English language practice opportunities
  • Connecting new arrivals with information regarding existing English class opportunities in the community
  • Currently hosting an interim semester of ESOL classes for new arrivals

Information Sessions

Educational Workshops/Information Sessions – Learning sessions for new neighbors to learn about different organizations, access resources, learn skills, engage with the community, etc.

Host presentations by community partners to inform new arrivals about their services and how to access them.

  • Organize bilateral conversations with new arrivals around cultural norms and expectations, with interpreters present. Specifics have included:
  • Local school system’s expectations of parents
  • Child passenger safety and car seats
  • Rules of the road while biking

Resource Connection

New Neighbors helps immigrants and refugees access vital community services, from transportation and education to childcare and healthcare. We collaborate with local organizations to bridge gaps and make resources accessible to those who need them most. Are you an organization interested in partnering with us? Volunteer Coordination and Support

New Neighbors Coalition’s Volunteer and Support Coordination service connects compassionate community members with meaningful opportunities to assist immigrants and refugees in Jamestown.

From organizing donation drives and setting up homes to providing transportation and language support, our volunteers play a vital role in fostering a welcoming environment. Through structured coordination, we ensure that community support is responsive, effective, and impactful.
